People are always talking about how difficult it is to become a comic artist in Japan, and how no American up until recently has had a chance...but what about CJ Michalski? Isn't she American? And she's really popular both here and in Japan. Been doing it for a while too, since the mid-90s I think.

Just something I've been wondering.

well first I didnt recognize her and I looked up her titles and so far I see she does a lot of bl. So I dont read bl and thats a big point

its too small of a niche for people to take notice unless she's as popular as "Fake" or "Gravitation" who even people like me that dont read bl will still know of her.

That, and lots of people say that bl has reached it's peak since the great majority of it is mediocre at best.

Well regardless of the quality of the work, CJ Michalski is reasonably popular within the BL crowd, and considering how loud some who read BL are, I'm still surprised there hasn't been SOME talk about her being American, just because.

Well, on her website and all of her books here it says Russian-American, so I'm not sure. :/

Okies, I'm going to check tomorrow but from what it looks like on peoplesoft I'll be able to send it to your yahoo. Next year there should be prizes (at least with the rooms). Today they closed off most of the path from the Dodd area to Stetson, so I'm seriously thinking of getting those t-shirts made.
