I see a theme coming on? Maaaybe not...not sure if I want to draw Touga or Saionji, they suck. :( (Saionji considerably less than Touga though)

I've decided from now on to become a better drafter. If the draft is mostly right, then you won't run into problems further on. I always told myself (especially when working on the computer) that I'll just fix things in the ink stage so it doesn't matter if my sketches are loose, but the fact is that they need to be tighter because you can't actually "fix" things easily when you're inking. And what would happen is it would get difficult and I'd get frustrated and just settle for something that I thought was "okay", which not only is wrong, it's frankly lazy. So yeah, putting more work into my drafts.

See what I mean? I never did that before because I was dumb.

From my experience and even talking with other people, I feel like the only time that having a messy/not fully completed draft is alright is when you plan to "paint" the picture as opposed to inking your lines and then coloring it. Hell, even when you want to 'paint' it's easier when the draft is more complete. (But I always just want to get it over with and move on to slapping colours XD).

Yay! I'm glad you drew Juri. She's my favorite too!

Love the Utena-ness and Juri-ness going on here.
The hair on Juri has some real depth to it.

...I've always though that really tight preliminary sketches/drafts were a disadvantage...in a way. It can get to the point where, during the inking stage, the drawing becomes too close to tracing and the final product lacks the liveliness, flow and organic quality of freshly drawn lines.
I dunno, it works for some people though. :0

I think for me personally tight sketches are the way to go. XD; I need to discipline myself to not be lazy about certain things before I can relax my methods, though I certainly see what you mean (especially since you have so much life in your work!).

One thing that bothers me about my digital work is how stiff it tends to become, which is why I want to transition properly into traditional stuff...but at the moment digital is quicker, so I think I'm just going to find a way to make things look more alive on the computer. D: Oh well, I'm all about challenges~

She looks so pretty and elegant. ♥

Nice work!

Lol I like Touga because he's a total jackass. :P

Yeah, but the thing that gets me about Touga is that Akio beats him at like...everything including being a jackass. :( It's hilariously sad. Though honestly, even though the guys in Utena (except for Miki of course) tend to be asses I love that they are. XD
