wow these pages are really awesome. I'm still trying to wonder how to deal with rendering black hair.
so you sent to Del Rey did you try Yen press while you're at it? or do they only want non simultaneous pitches? Did you get to see my link to their panel discussing what they want in a pitch?
Another random thought came; how's Wirepop? do you feel you get enough traffic from there? I'm thinking of submitting to them
I haven't sent anything to Yen Press yet--their submission guidelines are a bit different and so I'll need to put together a slightly different package. I was hesitating a bit because I wasn't sure if I should send the same proposal out to two different companies at the same time, but maybe I'll just email them? I might just give them something completely different.
Wirepop is...well, I kind of completely lost steam when I was in Japan so I'm pretty sure I'm unofficially off the site at the moment ^^; But while I was there I got a fair amount of traffic. I think what I ended up realizing is that (at least for a webcomic) I prefer working on a story in chunks and then putting them up, and I just hadn't done enough pages in advance to do that so I fell behind easily. But that's just me...I say go for it, if you want to!
Oh yeah, I did read what they said at the panel about what they're looking for but it's kind of moot since I had already sent my submission out to them right before the panel.
And yeah, if you want to put the comic up for free I don't see what's so bad about putting it on your site or having it on one of those webcomic sites like smackjeeves and the like? It's really up to what you feel like doing.
