Thanks for all the help guys!
...It's been a while since I've felt as inspired to just...draw like I've been lately. What a relief. At least something's working out. Not to say things are horrible, but I haven't been feeling too well lately for a number of reasons, so it's good that something positive is going on, haha.

Date: 2009-06-26 04:04 am (UTC)In answer to your question, I normally draw in my office because I need the right ergonomics and an electric eraser and stuff, but yeah, in my office I have two mirrors. One's a full-length mirror to pose in, and the other is a face mirror suspended from my desk by this clamp thing that can move around. I use that one to do facial expressions in, or for hand refs. I used to use these both for almost every drawing; I had to get off my lazy butt and pose, then I'd do teeny sketches in my sketchbook to see if I had the pose figured out, and then I'd draw it. I couldn't work without mirrors, but now I rarely need it, which is strange. I think that started about a year ago? I expected to be doing the same thing for the rest of my life, but I feel like I can finally "picture" things, which is such a nice feeling.
One other comment--I don't know if you noticed, but one reason I moved her legs was to balance her--if you bend over, your legs go forward; if you arch back, your legs go back, so the center of your weight is usually below the head. Just something else to pay attention to!
And watch earnestly the relationship between the shoulders and neck; that's a tough spot to master.
Yay!
